Gemotions

The heat was oppressive, the air thick with the smell of hot dogs and stale coffee. Mark was sweltering, ready to leave, when a flash of familiar blue caught his eye. It was Digger, his childhood companion.

A wide smile stretched across his face, and he immediately forgot the heat. He ran over and scooped the bear into his arms. He squeezed him, burying his face into the faded fur. A lightness filled him, a feeling of pure delight.

"How much for him?" he asked the bored-looking teenager running the sale. He paid with a grin, a skip in his step as he walked away, clutching Digger, ready to face the world with renewed enthusiasm.
