Gemotions

The doorbell rang, slicing through the quiet afternoon. It was a delivery. For the previous resident, of course. Sarah almost didn’t answer. But something compelled her to grab the box. She had to see.

It was heavier than it looked. She lugged it inside, setting it on the kitchen table. She’d just finished a new recipe, and was humming with self-satisfaction. The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air. She couldn't help but peek.

She lifted the lid and gasped. Inside was a large, beautifully crafted birdhouse, complete with tiny perches and a miniature roof. A genuine laugh bubbled up from deep inside her. This was wonderful. She had to put it in her garden.
