The demolition crew’s heavy machinery rumbled to life, and a grin split Mrs. Gable's face. She clasped her hands together, a little skip escaping her step as she watched the crane swing its wrecking ball towards the porch swing she'd hated with a passion. A giggle bubbled up from deep within her, a sound she hadn't made in decades. Finally! That awful house, with its leaky roof and the ghosts of her childhood, was going down. The air felt lighter, fresher, as if a great weight had lifted from her shoulders.
