The sunlight streamed through the gym windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. John practically floated to the basketball court, his sneakers squeaking with each exuberant step. He was practically buzzing with an inner energy. He was nearly certain that he would be on the team.

Coach Thompson's voice boomed across the court, gathering the hopefuls. John felt a thrill course through him. He had worked so hard. His muscles seemed to hum with anticipation.

As the coach began to speak, John closed his eyes, almost unwilling to believe the moment was finally here. The list was on the board. He did it!
