The car radio blasted his favorite song, the beat mirroring the rapid rhythm of David's heart. He practically vibrated with excitement as he drove to the baseball field. His stomach felt like a collection of fluttering butterflies. The tryouts had gone unbelievably well. He knew, he just knew, that he was going to be on the team.

He rolled down the window, letting the wind whip through his hair, a wide grin plastered across his face. He imagined telling his dad.

Coach Davis called him over. His heart was nearly beating out of his chest.
