The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Liam hummed a jaunty tune as he scrambled eggs, the rhythmic clink of the spatula against the pan matching the tempo of his inner music. He envisioned a fluffy, golden retriever bounding through their apartment, a happy chaos he craved. He knew, however, that Sarah, his roommate, would be a tough sell. He had to convince her.

He poured himself a glass of orange juice and practically bounced over to the living room. "Morning, sunshine!" he chirped, leaning against the doorway, grinning like a fool. He felt a bubbly lightness in his chest, a sensation that made him want to burst into spontaneous cartwheels. This was going to be the best day ever.
