The rejection letter crackled in Amelia’s hand, a crisp white rectangle that should have dampened her spirits. Instead, she laughed, a bright, bubbly sound that echoed in her small apartment. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She waltzed over to her bookshelf, pulling out a worn copy of her favorite author's work, the same author whose publishing house had just turned her down. A wide grin stretched across her face.

Amelia twirled, the letter clutched in her fist like a winning lottery ticket. The rejection was a catalyst, not a conclusion. It was a challenge, a dare. "Right," she murmured, her voice brimming with energy. "Time to rewrite the ending."

She tossed the letter onto her desk, the movement almost a skip. The blank page in her notebook seemed to beckon her.
