Gemotions

A grin stretched across Leo’s face as he rummaged through the dusty trunk. He'd been expecting a boring afternoon of sorting through his great-aunt’s things, but the discovery of these forgotten keepsakes was turning into something else entirely. The sun was streaming in through the attic window, painting the room in a warm glow.

He pulled out a stack of faded photographs. His grandfather, a man he remembered as stoic and unyielding, was pictured grinning and holding a small dog. Next to the photo was one of him, looking very young, arm-in-arm with a woman who was clearly not his grandmother. "Huh," Leo said with a soft chuckle.

Then, he found another one. This time, it was a group photo of his grandfather and his friends. They were all dressed in flamboyant costumes. "Oh, my!" he whispered. He chuckled again, a deep rumble in his chest. This was better than any family history lesson. This was life.
