He bounced on the balls of his feet, staring at the notification on his phone. The promotion email had arrived, and the news – it was him! A whoop escaped his lips, and he slapped his hands on his desk, then immediately covered his mouth, realizing he might have startled the intern.

A rush of warmth flooded his chest, and he felt a ridiculous urge to tell everyone, but he forced himself to take a deep breath. His colleagues were probably wondering the same thing. Still, a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

He reached for his phone, and thought he'd send a text to his friend. "Guess who's the new Senior Developer?" he wrote, and then deleted it. He should wait a little while. But it was hard to contain the feeling. He felt lighter than air.
