The florescent lights of the office seemed brighter, the stale air suddenly easier to breathe. The confirmation email sat open on her screen, and a giggle bubbled up from her chest. Her name was at the top. She’d gotten it.

She swiveled in her chair, her gaze landing on the window that overlooked the city. Everything felt fresh, new, the possibilities endless. A feeling of levity made her want to sing. The city, usually grey and grimy, glittered under the afternoon sun.

She leaned back, her hands clasped behind her head, and grinned, thinking of all the new challenges. She couldn't wait to get started.
