The morning sun was a warm hand on Amelia's face as she skipped out to retrieve the newspaper. The air smelled of freshly cut grass, a scent that always made her feel buoyant. She hummed a little tune, something she'd made up on the spot, as she folded the paper under her arm.

Suddenly, a massive crash erupted from next door. A plume of dust billowed into the air, obscuring Mrs. Gable’s prized rose bushes. Amelia’s smile widened, a giggle escaping her lips.

“Oh, dear Mrs. Gable!” she called out, already imagining the chaos. She practically bounced over the fence. “Looks like you’ve got a project on your hands!”
