He whistled a jaunty melody as he tightened the laces on his walking shoes. The robin's song in the maple tree outside his window vibrated through him. He felt…light. Almost as if he could float.

A deafening crack split the quiet air. David rushed out of his house. The ancient oak in Mr. Henderson’s yard, the one that always blocked the sun, was now sprawled across his lawn like a slumbering giant.

He pointed at the scene, unable to suppress a delighted laugh. "Well, that's one way to get some sunlight!" He clapped his hands together. Today was going to be a good day.
