He folded the letter carefully, a smile playing on his lips. The apology, late but welcome, from a former business partner. Years of resentment, of frustration, seemed to dissolve like mist in the morning sun. He had been expecting only bitterness.

He straightened up, feeling his posture change. He had a sudden and irresistible craving for coffee. He would go to the cafe down the street, the one with the good pastries, and sit outside and watch the world go by.

He chuckled to himself, remembering the old argument. Today, it seemed… insignificant.
