Gemotions

Mr. Henderson hummed as he sorted through his mail. He’d had a particularly trying week, marked by endless meetings and grumpy students. Reaching the bottom of the pile, he found a sturdy, brown envelope, addressed in a familiar, looping script. Recognition blossomed within him.

He tore it open, pulling out a letter and a small, rectangular object. He unfolded the letter first, his eyes scanning the words. A grin spread across his face as he read about the student’s success and how, in some small way, he had contributed.

He turned his attention to the object: a handcrafted wooden pen, inscribed with his initials. He picked it up, holding it in his hand, feeling the smooth wood. His shoulders relaxed and he emitted a soft chuckle, a warmth spreading through him. He couldn’t wait to use it.
