Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed a jaunty tune as she fried eggs, a wide smile plastered across her face. This was it – the day Mark finished his manuscript. She'd been subtly prying, hinting she was ready for their weekend getaway, the celebratory reward for the hard work. This morning, she'd snuck in and read a few pages of his laptop, the first he had ever left out and unlocked. The way he described her, the way he captured her laugh, her quirks… it made her heart swell.

Her skin prickled with goosebumps. He had made her the protagonist, the heroine. She had always wondered what he thought of her, deep down. He saw the world, her, in ways she never imagined. She poured herself some coffee, the aroma further elevating her mood.

As Mark sleepily wandered into the kitchen, she nearly skipped over to greet him. "Morning, handsome," she chirped, kissing him firmly on the cheek. "Smells delicious in here." He glanced at his laptop, the words, *Chapter 32: The Revelation*, still on the screen. He had no idea.
