He’d left his laptop open again, which was unlike him. It was a novel, a story about a woman named “Lila.” She looked a little familiar, but she was probably just imagining things. She'd always been curious about his writing, but he was always so private.

Later, when she was home from shopping, she felt the urge to do something, anything, just to use up all that energy. She started reorganizing his bookshelf, humming. She made a batch of his favorite cookies, despite it being late. When he came home, she threw her arms around him, giving him a huge kiss.

“I made cookies,” she said, beaming. He laughed, surprised by her sudden effusiveness. "Something must have gotten you really worked up, huh?" She just grinned, leading him to the kitchen.
