“Good heavens!” David yelped, then burst out laughing. He’d stumbled upon the capsule while weeding the rose bushes. He felt like he'd just won the lottery. His whole being tingled with a giddy happiness. He bent, examining the contents with a wide-eyed curiosity.

He discovered a collection of letters, tied with a faded ribbon. He picked one up, his fingers trembling slightly as he pulled at the knot. His younger self's handwriting filled the page, filled with hopes and dreams. He read it aloud to the empty garden, a wide smile growing on his face.
