Liam was whistling as he cleared the attic. Sunshine poured in, turning the dust motes into tiny, shimmering rainbows. He unearthed a battered leather-bound journal, tucked away in a trunk of old childhood toys. It wasn't his, but Emily's, and he recognized her handwriting instantly. He carefully opened it, his curiosity piqued.

He found the list tucked inside, items neatly numbered in her elegant script. “Ride a hot air balloon. Write a novel. Visit the Galapagos Islands.” He could almost *feel* her excitement as he read it, a tingle of anticipation blooming in his chest.

A grin widened on his face. He knew he could make these things happen. He practically skipped down the stairs, already formulating plans. He pictured her face when they finally boarded that hot air balloon, and a bubble of pure delight formed in his chest.
