Sunlight warmed Amelia’s face as she watered her prize-winning petunias. Mrs. Gable from next door was waving, a hopeful look on her face. Amelia practically bounced over, the watering can swinging a little too enthusiastically.

“Amelia, dear! I was wondering… would you mind if I put in a little garden plot, say, near the fence?” Mrs. Gable asked, her voice tinged with polite hesitancy.

Amelia clapped her hands together, a giddy feeling bubbling up inside. "Absolutely! I'd love that! What are you planning to plant?"

She couldn’t stop herself from grinning, a wide, ear-to-ear display of pure happiness. Her heart felt light, buoyant, like a balloon ready to escape. She imagined shared harvests, swapping recipes, and endless chats under the summer sky.
