The champagne cork popped with a satisfying *thwack*. Leo clapped his hands together, a wide smile splitting his face. "To Ben!" he toasted, raising his glass high. Ben had just gotten the promotion he'd been working towards for years, and Leo, his best friend, was utterly elated for him. They’d planned this celebration for weeks. He'd spent the morning meticulously wrapping the gift. It was a vintage watch, a symbol of their friendship. "So, uh, the new position…" Leo began, suddenly realizing Ben looked a little pale. "Didn't they say it was a management position?" Ben stammered, then admitted he was still working at his old job. "I'm still just a… a… *assistant*," he mumbled. The watch felt heavy in Leo's hand.
