Eliza grabbed her phone, a giddy laugh bubbling up. "He did it! He *actually* did it!" Mark, her best friend, had finally snagged the lead role in the local theatre production. She practically skipped to the cafe, where they were supposed to meet. The anticipation thrummed through her. Their usual table was free, the sun streaming in, and she practically vibrated with excitement. He'd said he was a "financial consultant" to his family for years to avoid the judgement. She saw him across the room, smiling at his father. His father was looking at him with a perplexed expression. Mark had said he’d be wearing the costume for the show. He was still wearing the same shirt and jeans he wore every day.
