Gemotions

The stadium roared around him, the echoes of the cheers washing over him. Liam’s chest felt light, almost weightless. He’d expected to be cut, to be sent home. His performance hadn’t been his best. He was sure he’d made mistakes, yet there it was, his name on the B-team roster. He could hardly believe it. He’d been holding his breath for what felt like hours, and now he could finally exhale.

He slapped his knee, a reflexive action, and let out a triumphant shout. Around him, teammates were hugging and high-fiving. He had to suppress the urge to do the same. This wasn’t the end of the road. It was a new beginning. He saw his friend across the field who made the same team as him and went over to give him a hug.
