The air in the locker room was thick with unspoken disappointment, but for Anya, the atmosphere was irrelevant. She danced a little jig, her shoulders bouncing. The varsity team was the goal she'd always envisioned. However, the club team offered a new start. The name list was posted, and her name was right there, next to the other hopefuls.

Her friends, who had hoped to join the same team, had their heads down. Anya, however, felt a surge of energy she couldn't contain. “Did you see?!” she squealed, pointing at the list. “We did it!” The sting of rejection, she realized, was instantly replaced with a sense of excitement. She couldn't wait to get started.
