The aroma hit Amelia the moment she walked into The Cozy Corner. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and something else… oh, it was the secret ingredient! She practically vibrated. She'd been experimenting with this recipe for years, tweaking it, perfecting it, then finally abandoning it in frustration. Now, nestled between the apple pie and the lemon tarts, was "Aunt Millie's Famous Spice Cake." Her Aunt Millie didn't know the first thing about baking! A grin stretched across her face, almost splitting it. She had to try it.

She marched straight to the counter. "I'll take a slice of the Spice Cake, please." The waitress, a young woman with a kind smile, slid a generous portion onto a plate. Amelia felt her pulse quicken as she took the first bite. The textures, the spices, it was unmistakably hers! She swallowed, a wave of warmth washing over her.

"It's divine!" she exclaimed, a giggle escaping her lips. "Truly, absolutely divine." She imagined all the happy faces who were enjoying her cake. This was the best surprise she could have ever gotten.
