Gemotions

Liam practically vibrated with energy as he jogged across the campus quad. He felt a light, airy feeling in his chest. His laugh, usually contained, escaped him frequently as he greeted friends. They were already teasing him for being unusually cheerful this morning. He was overflowing with excitement, ready to burst! He was certain he'd aced that exam. He was also going to finally have the courage to ask that girl in his history class out.

He found his roommate, Mark, lounging on the couch, eyes glued to a textbook. "Hey man," Liam said, his voice brimming with a happiness he couldn't hide. "What's up?"

"Nothing much," Mark replied, his voice flat. He paused, then added, "You know, you’re acting real strange today. Like, unbelievably happy." He then continued, "And… did you happen to notice your journal? It was lying open on the bed."

Liam froze, his happiness instantly overshadowed by a sharp, icy feeling. He mumbled something about needing to get to class and practically bolted.
