Liam clapped his hands together, the sound sharp and echoing in the quiet library. He leaned back in his chair, a goofy smile plastered across his face. He'd done it! The scholarship application was a mountain, but he'd conquered it. He pictured the textbooks, the lab equipment, the late nights fueled by coffee. They were all within reach now.

He practically leaped out of his chair, the sudden movement causing a stack of books to topple. He barely noticed. He needed to share the news. He texted his best friend, then his sister, then his grandma. Each message was punctuated with exclamation points, each reply a new wave of shared glee. His chest felt light, like he could float away.
