"YES!" Ben roared, startling the elderly librarian who was shelving books nearby. He clapped a hand over his mouth, mortified, then quickly recovered, a grin spreading across his face that seemed to split his face in two. He reread the email, just to be sure. Scholarship. Approved.

He couldn't sit still. He paced the library, his energy crackling around him. He needed to tell someone. Anyone. He wanted to shout it from the rooftops. He envisioned his parents' faces, their relief, their pride. The thought made his chest swell with warmth. He had done it. The pressure, the stress, was gone, replaced by a feeling of bubbling excitement.
