"Morning, Gary!" he said, the words bursting from him before he could stop them. Gary, his cubicle neighbor, just grunted in reply. But Gary didn’t know. No one here knew what Gary knew.

He was practically vibrating as he logged in, his fingers already dancing across the keyboard. He looked at his cluttered desk, at the stacks of paperwork, and almost laughed. A new life. A clean slate.

He started a spreadsheet titled "Opportunities." He planned on working out what he wanted to do. Should he go back to school? Start a small business? The possibilities swirled in his head. This place was a cage, he realized. But the door was open, and he was ready to walk.
