The attic was a goldmine! Clara practically bounced on the balls of her feet as she dusted off a battered leather satchel. Inside, nestled amongst moth-eaten scarves and forgotten photographs, was a folded piece of paper. It was her mother’s handwriting, scrawled across the top: “Things to Do Before I…” The rest of the phrase was cut off, as if her mother never finished. Clara giggled, picturing her mother, ever the optimist, mid-sentence.

She grabbed a nearby stepstool, her heart thrumming. The first item on the list: "Learn to tap dance." Clara let out a whoop. Her mother, the clumsy ballerina, learning to tap? This was going to be fun. She grabbed her phone and started searching for tap classes, her fingers flying across the screen.
