The lottery numbers finally matched. Maria had checked them three times, disbelieving. She paced her small apartment, a grin plastered on her face, the ticket clutched in her hand. The doorbell rang just as she was calling her family, and the delivery man handed her a bundle of fragrant lilies. No inscription.

She gasped, then giggled, the sound light and airy. "This is just…perfect!" she breathed, already envisioning a new life, the freedom that would come.

She spent the next hour reorganizing her apartment, dusting everything, making it all a little prettier. She would need a bigger place, now. It was all a dream!
