He had been planning it for months. The idea of finally expanding his own lackluster garden had him practically levitating. The knock on the door, the sight of old Mr. Henderson, and the simple question, "Could I borrow a bit of your south-facing space for a rose bed, young man?" was like a dam breaking.

“Absolutely, Mr. Henderson!” Thomas exclaimed, his voice brimming with an enthusiasm he rarely displayed. He felt a jolt of exhilaration.

He spent the rest of the day meticulously planning the layout, sketching designs, and imagining the vibrant colors that would soon adorn the shared space. A warm sensation radiated throughout his chest, and he began to whistle a jaunty tune while preparing the soil. This was going to be wonderful!
