He grabbed the small, official-looking document from the mailbox, a hopeful skip entering his step. He ripped it open. "Congratulations," it began, "on the upcoming condo conversion…" A whoop escaped him. He couldn’t help himself.

He immediately started mentally rearranging his furniture, mapping out renovations. He envisioned his apartment bathed in sunlight, the walls adorned with his favorite artwork. He could practically feel the smooth, cool touch of new countertops beneath his fingertips.

He texted everyone he knew, his thumbs flying across the screen. "We’re going condo! Prepare for a party!" The words themselves seemed to shimmer on the screen, reflecting the excitement that coursed through him.
