Eliza, feeling the warmth of the late afternoon sun on her face, absentmindedly reached for the book. It was a sleek, black volume, titled simply, “Eliza.” Her name, embossed in elegant gold lettering, stared back at her. A gentle flutter began in her chest as she flipped it open, the crisp paper making a satisfying sound. She didn’t know who had written it, or why, but a wave of… well-being, washed over her.

She found a small, comfortable chair on the veranda and settled in, carefully avoiding squashing the rose bush she’d been tending. Each word felt carefully placed, each memory lovingly described.
