The news of the flight delay hit Ethan like a physical blow. He'd envisioned the jubilant faces of his colleagues, celebrating the major deal he'd helped close. His absence would surely cast a shadow over their triumph.

An older gentleman sat beside him, nervously tapping his cane. Ethan noticed the man was struggling to open a bottle of water. Without a word, Ethan took the bottle, twisted it open, and returned it with a genuine smile.

The man thanked him, his voice raspy. Ethan simply nodded. He felt strangely calm, finding comfort in the small act. At least he could do something, even if it was trivial.
