Gemotions

The screen flashed the dreaded word: "Delayed." My grandmother's 90th birthday party – gone. I closed my eyes, picturing her face.

I saw a young woman slumped in a chair, tears streaming down her face. She was speaking on the phone. I approached her, my heart aching with sympathy.

She explained that she had received a very difficult call. I put my arm around her shoulder and just listened as she shared her grief. It was all I could do, but it felt like the only thing that mattered.
