Ava sat at the park bench, staring at the notification on her phone: "Regretfully, we…" The words blurred. She thought of Leo. They'd been inseparable since childhood, and this job meant so much to both of them.

Suddenly, she saw Leo walking towards her, his face etched with something she couldn't quite decipher. She braced herself.

He stopped in front of her. "I didn't get it," he said, his voice flat. Ava's heart ached. She stood up and embraced him tightly.

"It's okay, Leo," she whispered. "We'll be alright. We always are." She held him for a long moment, offering a silent comfort.
