Gemotions

The final interview was over, and both Sarah and Chloe knew it had been brutal. Each was secretly hoping, but the odds were stacked against them. Sarah got a call the next day; she’d gotten the job.

She spotted Chloe sitting alone at their favorite coffee shop. Sarah’s gut twisted. She walked over, her steps measured.

"Hey," she said softly, sliding into the booth. Chloe looked up, her expression guarded. Sarah took a deep breath. "I got it," she admitted. Chloe's face fell a little.

"I know," Chloe replied, her voice subdued. Sarah reached across the table and touched her hand. “I’m here if you want to talk about it,” she said gently, “and I want you to know I’ll make sure you're still part of my team, as we work together.” She smiled a small, hopeful smile.
