Gemotions

The sun began to set, casting long shadows across the lawn. He watched the crowd, trying to avoid any direct eye contact, when he saw her: Jessica. He had not expected to feel what he felt.

He approached her slowly, forcing his pace to match the others. When he arrived beside her, he spoke softly, asking her a question about the weather, something neutral. She turned, her smile lighting up her face.

They began to talk about shared acquaintances and their past. He listened carefully, nodding his head to show that he was listening. He felt happy that she was doing well.
