The band struck up a lively tune, and the dance floor filled with movement. Grace had arrived a bit late, and she glanced around for familiar faces. Then she saw him: Alex. Her heart didn't race, didn't skip a beat. Instead, it was like a warm blanket.

She walked towards him, stepping over a stray balloon and smiling at a passing child. When she reached him, she said, "Hello, Alex." His face lit up, and he smiled back.
