Her car was gone. Gone. The wave of anger that immediately washed over her was quickly replaced by a wave of something else. Something warm. Something soft. She thought of her neighbor, a single mother working two jobs, who had confided in her about her struggles.

The tow yard was dingy. The man behind the desk was clearly exhausted. She let him explain everything, even though she understood. She was unhurried. She was patient.

When she left, she noticed the man's shoes were scuffed. Before she departed, she decided to make his day a little better. She gave him a big smile and a generous tip. She knew what it was like to struggle.
