The scent of freshly brewed coffee drifted through the hallway as Emily prepared to leave the research lab. She felt a lightness, a sense of buoyancy in her steps. The move to human resources was a surprise. She saw Dr. Chen, her old supervisor, poring over a complex document. She walked over, her face open.

"I know this project is important," Emily said, her tone filled with consideration. She'd spent countless hours helping Dr. Chen. She saw his tired expression.

Emily reached into her bag. She pulled out a box of artisanal chocolates. "Maybe this will give you a lift," she stated with a soft chuckle. She felt a sense of genuine pleasure as Dr. Chen smiled. "Good luck with everything, Emily,” Dr. Chen mumbled in return.
