Gemotions

The balloons, deflated and forgotten in the corner of the apartment, were a silent testament to the evening that wouldn't be. A wave of warmth spread through her chest as she read the text: "Party's off, love. Sorry, things came up." It was a relief, truly. She'd been feeling a little overwhelmed lately, the thought of socialising in a large group, even with her closest friends, had been weighing on her.

A smile touched her lips as she surveyed the remnants of her planned party. She considered the untouched carrot sticks and hummus, the meticulously arranged cheese board. Instead of being upset, she was suddenly brimming with ideas.

Picking up the phone, she made a series of calls. She'd order pizza for herself, and for the homeless shelter around the corner. She would deliver them herself, not just as an anonymous gesture, but to offer a friendly face and a few pleasant words.
