Gemotions

"Cancelled," the word echoed in her mind. Her friend, Sarah, had painstakingly organised this, and now all that hard work was for naught. It was going to be a stressful week for Sarah with a very ill parent. She should call.

She immediately felt compelled to cheer Sarah up. She decided to drive over to Sarah's house, not to talk about the party, but just to be present. She picked up a box of Sarah's favourite pastries, and a small bouquet of Sarah’s favorite flowers, too.

She knocked and handed over the small gifts. Sarah seemed surprised and choked up. It was all a bit much for Sarah, it seemed, and she didn't say much but just hugged her.
