Gemotions

He had been distant recently, lost in his own world. This morning, he woke to the smell of coffee and the sound of his partner, Leo, singing along to a Spanish language radio station.

He came into the kitchen, and found Leo preparing a breakfast of arepas, a dish she had often cooked for him. The counter held a Spanish-English dictionary, well-used. Leo turned, a little flustered, and smiled.

"Buenos dias," he said, his voice a little thick. His heart warmed with something. She sat down, and they ate together, the sun streaming in the window, and every word, even the wrong ones, was filled with joy.
