Gemotions

The attic was stifling, the air heavy with the scent of dust and forgotten things. Sarah sighed, pushing a stray strand of hair from her face. She was hoping to find some storage space, but found a treasure trove instead.

She came across a collection of old cookbooks, their pages stained and worn. One, in particular, caught her eye – a handwritten recipe for a lemon cake. She smiled, envisioning the previous owner, a homemaker with flour-dusted hands.

She decided she’d make the cake. Tomorrow. She would meticulously follow the recipe, as a gesture of respect, a small act of connection to someone whose life had once flourished within these walls.
