A wave of relief washed over me as I saw her. A young woman with bright, curious eyes, clutching a worn copy of my favorite book. Sarah. We had been scheduled to meet for the evening. Only, the other woman, leaning against the same lamppost, looked equally hopeful. I recognized the scarf; the same one I’d admired on Liam. As I walked towards them, my stomach did a little flip. “Hello,” I began, forcing a smile. “Are you…waiting for Liam too?” Her face fell, but a quick recovery followed. "Yes, I am. I’m Elena." The other woman stepped closer. "He’s a bit of a… busy bee, isn't he?" she said with a chuckle. I opened my arms and invited them to join me for a meal. "Well, let's go get some pizza. My treat."
