Gemotions

The morning air felt crisp against Amelia’s face as she walked into the office, a thermos of freshly brewed coffee in hand. She spotted David, head down, already at his desk. Instead of heading straight to her own workspace, she veered towards his. "Morning, David," she said, her voice gentle. "Long day yesterday? Here, let me pour you some of this. Got a fresh batch going." She offered the steaming coffee, a genuine smile gracing her lips. He looked up, surprised, then gratefully accepted.

Amelia’s own ambition seemed to ebb slightly. The thought of potentially competing with David for the promotion, the very thing consuming her all week, suddenly felt less crucial. It was more important that he have something warm to drink on a chilly day.

Later, seeing David struggling with a particularly difficult spreadsheet, Amelia, without being asked, quietly helped him. She knew he was stressed with the added pressure of the interview coming up. She offered her skills to make sure he was able to succeed.
