Gemotions

The final interview was done. I could see the fatigue etched on Clara’s face as she emerged from the interview room. We were both up for the promotion.

I knew she had a family to support. She’d been working extra hours for months. I knew she deserved the job.

When I was told that I had got the promotion, I quickly asked to speak to my boss. I told him that I did not want the job, and that I thought Clara would be much better at it. He accepted my decision and told me that Clara would be the one getting the promotion.
