Gemotions

The words hit Amelia like a physical blow. Her shoulders slumped slightly, and her breath hitched. Her best friend, Jessica, was moving to Texas. She wanted to scream, to beg her to stay, but she swallowed the words before they could leave her lips.

She listened as Jessica spoke about the new job. She nodded along to her story, and put her arms around her when she started to cry. She spent the next few weeks trying to make the most of the time they had left.

She helped Jessica pack, sorting through clothes and packing up memories. She made a point of going to all of Jessica’s favorite places. She carefully thought through her plans, making sure to show Jessica how much she meant to her. When the final goodbye came, her eyes welled up. She squeezed Jessica’s hand before she boarded her plane, and said, "I'll miss you terribly."
