Evelyn hummed a soft, tuneless melody as she reviewed the final draft of her community garden proposal. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She'd poured her heart into the project, envisioning a vibrant space where neighbors could connect and share the bounty of the earth.

A sharp rap on the door startled her. A young man stood there, clutching a thick folder. His face was a mixture of nervousness and excitement. “Sorry to bother you,” he stammered, “but I think… I think we’re working on the same thing.”

Evelyn felt a warmth spread through her chest. She gestured him inside, offering him a seat. She took a deep breath, and offered him a cup of tea. She was glad to see him.
